About Our Doctors

garrettVeronica E. Garrett, MD

Dr. Garrett obtained her bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, and completed her OB/GYN residency at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center.

Dr. Garrett is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has a special interest in managing high-risk pregnancies, menopause, abnormal bleeding, and treating uterine fibroids, and many other conditions.

Dr. Garrett has hospital privileges at Rockdale Medical Center, Newton General Medical Center and Dekalb Medical Center.

harrisNaomi R. Harris, MD

Dr. N. Ruth Harris obtained her bachelor's degree from Lehman College of The City of New York. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Yale University School of Medicine and completed her residency at Emory University School of Medicine.

Dr. Harris is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has special interest in Fibroid management, Infertility, and adolescent gynecology. She also enjoys reading, art and learning new languages.

Dr. Harris has privileges at Rockdale Medical Center, Newton General Medical Center, and Dekalb Medical Center.

Dr YoungKatherine Young, MD

Dr. Young is one of our newest additions here at New Beginnings Comprehensive Women's Healthcare. She grew up in the Conyers area and is excited about returning to practice near her hometown. Dr. Young graduated summa cum laude from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia before earning her medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Afterwards, she completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency program as Chief Resident at the Methodist Health System in Dallas, Texas.

Dr. Young is considered board eligible by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and is an active member in many leading medical organizations, including the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the American Medical Association and the Southwest Gynecology Assembly.

In her spare time, Dr. Young is a huge football fan and enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.

mayfieldShannon Mayfield, CNM

Our Certified Nurse Midwife, Shannon Mayfield has been with New Beginnings Comprehensive Women's Healthcare for over two years. She earned an Associate's degree in Nursing from Gordon College, a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Clayton State University, and a Master's degree from Frontier Nursing University. She is proudly certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board. When not in the office, Shannon enjoys embroidery projects, sewing, crafts, cooking, and spending time with her husband and two girls.
